Project 29 Molecular Mechanism of Inflorescence and Spikelet Development in Rice

Project Description and Objectives

Rice (Oryza sativa L.), the model grass plant, has a specialized morphology of inflorescence and spikelet, which determines grain yield. Using various approaches such as forward and reverse genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology, etc., we are investigating the molecular mechanisms such as MADS box genes and the regulatory network involved in the morphogenesis and development of inflorescence and spikelet in rice.


Eligibility Requirements

  • Opportunities are available for majors in Computer Science, Biology and Plant Science.
  • The interested student should have a basic knowledge of biology
  • Prior experiences in biology research would be preferred.
